In June 2022, I completed my master’s studies at the RUDN University at the Department of International Law under the “International Protection of Human Rights” program. During the two years of study, enormous experience was gained, since this program is implemented on the basis of the Consortium of Leading Universities of Russia. Lectures and seminars were held at RUDN University and MGIMO University, thanks to this, the knowledge gained during the training is truly unique. We also managed to take part and take 1st place in the “Model of the ECHR” competition, held in Kazan as part of the VIII Summer School on Human Rights of the Consortium of Russian Universities. It was very exciting, but incredibly interesting.

From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank my beloved teachers of the Department of International Law of the RUDN University for the knowledge that they invested in us, for their experience and interest in the system of human rights protection within the UN.

The program "International Protection of Human Rights" is a great opportunity to prove yourself! The uniqueness of the program is that training is organized at two leading universities in our country: PFUR and MGIMO. This is a great chance to learn from the best teachers, meet interesting people, and make professional connections. In addition, during my studies on this program, I managed to participate in a number of international competitions and various events. ILHR is the best master's program for those who want to develop in the field of public international law! Organization of the program at the highest level, teachers with a huge amount of theoretical and practical knowledge, a unique opportunity to participate in international events - this is only a small part of the advantages of the program!

The program "International Protection of Human Rights" provides an opportunity to interact with expert practitioners in the field of international law. For students with a law degree, this is a good chance to deepen their knowledge of international law: its various branches are studied through the prism of human rights protection, which allows you to take a different look at previously learned information. For beginners in law, this is a great start to immersion in one of the most “living” areas of international law. The knowledge and skills gained during the course of the program will help you in your career: today any reputable company, domestic and foreign, recognizes the promotion and protection of human rights as a core business value.

And do not think that without the ECtHR the program will lose its relevance. You will be surprised how many international mechanisms for the protection of human rights that Russia uses still exist. Intrigued? Then welcome!

The training was held in an accessible form with an analysis of current problems in the field of human rights protection and international acts related to this. As a lawyer who gained significant knowledge of human rights in my undergraduate studies, I was sure that the master's program would rather expand my knowledge in this area, however, in some aspects it was fundamentally new information on already known things due to a deeper analysis of problems, a fundamental study foreign positions and comparison with domestic doctrine.

The knowledge gained during the master's program helped in solving practical problems in the work of a lawyer. Training allows you to deepen your knowledge in the field of international law, and fill in the gaps. The unique experience of communication with the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation and the Sverdlovsk Region, communication with a wide range of specialists involved in human rights activities, gives an idea of the practical activities of lawyers.

I recommend this master’s program to young students, since it is a training for the future, specifically for those, who wishes to work in the organizations of the UN or NGOs, protecting human rights. This allows you to have a broad range of knowledge about international rights.

The knowledge gained is universal and will be useful and interesting to every person. The biggest advantage of this master's program are summer schools and internships. This is a colossal experience, an opportunity to immerse yourself in the topic of human rights protection with your head, to meet unique people who are equally interested in this field and those who work in it, ask them any questions, discover not only new professional moments, but also a whole the layer of real difficulties and problems in this area that humanity faces. I can safely say that this program helps to look wider and deeper at the world and people.

This is a unique experience of immersion in the field of application of international law in practice. Most of all, when studying at the master's program, I remembered the Summer School in Venice in 2017. We still maintain warm relations with most of the participants.

An extensive range of knowledge in all branches of law, great attention is paid to international law, the protection of human rights by means of both national and international law. Most of all I remember the responsible and attentive attitude of the educators towards teaching the students. I would like to note the unique educational program, which is relevant and meets the challenges of the modern world.

The master's program provides not only a baggage of practical and theoretical skills, but also new acquaintances necessary for the development of a future career. It should also be noted the opportunity to participate in internships, in the classes and lectures of world-class lecturers, where pressing issues and topics in the field of international law and human rights are covered, and, of course, the summer school on human rights.

Strong teaching staff. Each student has the opportunity to individually discuss issues related to scientific work with the teacher. Discussion of topical issues during lectures, seminars, conferences. Availability of the necessary literature for writing scientific papers. Numerous speeches by students enrolled in the master's program, with presentations. Preparation of articles for scientific conferences and their discussion. Undertaking an internship at the Office of the Ombudsman in the Sverdlovsk Region. I believe that training in this master's program provides good knowledge that will definitely be useful not only in the professional field, but also in life in general. At the same time, thanks to numerous seminars and conferences that always touch upon the most pressing issues, you learn to reflect, express your thoughts, you start looking at some things from a different point of view.

I would recommend it to those who would like to engage in the protection of human rights, because within two years one can gain systemic knowledge about the regional and international system of human rights protection, as well as learn to apply knowledge in practice (including when writing articles on a relevant topic).

Pros – a unique program, summer schools, interaction with the UN, Office of the Ombudsman, etc.
Cons – the need to move between universities, different level of teaching of a number of disciplines and the questionable necessity of them being included in the program.

In addition to intensive studies and regular classes conducted by renowned visiting professors, students are given the opportunity to participate in international schools on human rights, the ECHR model, etc. All this gives a chance to gain the necessary knowledge that will later become the basis for becoming a professional in the field of human rights protection.

Previously one could only dream of such a program. And now I have become part of a huge consortium with wonderful teachers from all over the world, program participants from different universities. And everyone is united by a sense of justice in human rights, without discrimination and any distinctions. Isn't that wonderful?!
