Perm State National Research University

Perm State National Research University is the first university in the Ural, one of the founders of the Association of Classical Universities of Russia and the Association of Leading Universities of Russia. The university includes 12 faculties, 76 departments, Solikamsk State Pedagogical Institute. The Natural Science Institute, a special design bureau “Mayak”, the Botanical Garden, the educational and scientific base “Preduralye”, as well as the educational and experimental forestry “Troitskoye”, located in the Chelyabinsk region, provide a solid base for conducting educational and industrial practices and scientific research. The fundamental scientific library of the university is one of the largest in the region.

At all stages of its development, the university remains a popular educational and scientific centre in Russia. The university became the winner of the competition within the framework of the priority national project “Education” in 2006, in 2010 it was awarded the status of a national research university.

World famous scientific schools function here today. Professors, staff, students and their foreign colleagues are working on solving the most pressing issues, including rational environmental management, technologies to reduce the risk and mitigate the consequences of natural and man-made disasters, energy conservation and hydrogen energy, exploration of the Earth from space, and the creation of new medicines. University graduates occupy key positions in all spheres of economic, scientific, cultural, state and political life of the region, many of them play a significant role in the life of Russia.

The international activities of PSNRU are aimed at strengthening academic cooperation with foreign universities in the field of joint scientific research, the development of curricula, as well as the exchange of educators, students and postgraduates. Of specific significance are educational and scientific ties that have been developed with Oxford, Manchester Metropolitan Universities (Great Britain), Luneburg University (Germany), Slovenian University (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and many others. At the moment a total of more than 90 partnership agreements have been concluded with universities in different countries, and PSNRU has become a place of study for almost two hundred foreign students.

Perm University became the first university in the Kama region to become a member of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) academic ranking of world universities. Since 2014 PSNRU has been ranked among the best higher educational institutions in the BRICS countries, as well as in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
