10th Anniversary of the Consortium of Russian Universities Implementing the Joint Master's Program “International Protection of Human Rights”

Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia hosted on 19 December 2019 a Conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Consortium of Russian Universities implementing the joint Master’s Program “International Protection of Human Rights”.

The event was attended by representatives of all 9 universities-partners of the Consortium, as well as representatives of organizations with which the Consortium cooperates closely in the implementation of the master’s program. Anastasiya Aleksandrovna Belousova, General Director of the Scientific Institute for Globalization and Human Rights, moderated the event.

Welcoming remarks at the solemn part of the Conference were made by: Sergey V. Nazyuta, Vice-Rector for Commercial Activities, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia; Aluash Rashid, Coordinator of the Joint Program of the Russian Federation and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights; Vinogradov Mikhail Sergeyevich, Deputy Head of the Office of the Ombudsman in the Russian Federation; Margolina Tatyana Ivanovna, representative of the Council of the President of the Russian Federation for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, Professor of the Perm State National Research University; Alexey Nikolayevich Borisov, Secretary General of the Russian Association for the Assistance to the United Nations; Tamara Viktorovna Shashikhina, Director of the European Training Institute of MGIMO; Olga Sergeevna Porshneva, Head of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations, Ural Federal University of the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin (UrFU); Berg Lyudmila Nikolayevna, Vice-Rector for Research, Ural State Law University (UrSLU); Igor Anatolyevich Germanov, Vice-Rector for Personnel Development, Social Policy and Extracurricular Activities, Perm State National Research University (PSNRU); Oleg Nikolayevich Belenov, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Voronezh State University (VSU); Glushkova Svetlana Igorevna, Director of the Centre for Legal Education and Human Rights, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law, Head of the Human Rights Department of the Humanitarian University; Abdullin Adel Ilsiyarovich, Head of the Department of International and European Law, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University (KFU); Zrazhevskaya Tatyana Dmitriyevna, Ombudswoman in the Voronezh Region; Mikov Pavel Vladimirovich, Ombudsman in the Perm Region; Shivleta Viktorovna Tagirova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the State Institute of the Russian Language of A.S. Pushkin and a graduate of the Consortium, Marasulova Aziza.

A video congratulation from Mr. Dirk Hebeker, Head of the UNHCR Office in Tokyo was also shown to the participants of the event.

The Conference also hosted a meeting of representatives of the partner universities of the Consortium and a round table dedicated to master’s programs in the field of human rights protection, within which Leonard Hammer made a presentation on the topic: “Establishing Dual Graduate Degrees Between Consortium of Russian Universities and the University of Arizona” (Leonard M. Hammer), Director of Outreach and Program Development, Human Rights Practice Graduate Programs (SBS). During the presentation, Mr. Hammer spoke about the formats of training in The University of Arizona, close cooperation with the Humanitarian University (Yekaterinburg) and the benefits of interaction between Russian universities and the University of Arizona.
