December 1, 2020 at MGIMO, as part of the Moscow International Youth Model UN 2020, the All-Russian Single Lesson "Human Rights" was held

Aslan Khuseinovich Abashidze, an Honoured lawyer of the Russian Federation, member of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Doctor of Law, Professor of the Department of International Law of MGIMO, Head of the Department of International Law of RUDN, spoke to schoolchildren and students.

Professor A. Kh. Abashidze told the audience about basic human rights and universal values, explained to schoolchildren importance of knowing their rights and obligations and be able to protect them. The children also learned about the history of the establishment of the ombudsman institution during the lesson and the main activities of the state human rights champion. Professor Abashidze also answered questions from the audience.

The event was hosted by the Office of the Ombudsman in Russia, the UNESCO Department of MGIMO and the Russian United Nations Association. The All-Russian Integrated Lesson was coincided with the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and World Human Rights Day. The initiative to hold the event was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, as well as ombudsmen in all 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
