Distance is not a hindrance! Feedback on the classes of Professor R.Sh. Davletgildeeva at Perm University

In the spring of 2021, the Consortium of Russian Universities implementing the Master's program "International Protection of Human Rights" demonstrated an example of successful academic mobility. Undergraduates of the Perm National Research University (PSNIU) studied two disciplines of their curriculum with a teacher from Kazan Federal University (KFU) Rustem Shamilevich Davletgildeev.

Here is a review of the studies of a 2nd year student of the master's program in the direction of "International Protection of Human Rights" of the Faculty of Law of Perm State National Research University
Alina Samvelovna Mkhitaryan.

Studying in the second trimester of the masters of the final course in the direction of "International Protection of Human Rights" at the Faculty of Law of Perm State National Research University was marked by bright events, which even the distance learning mode could not interfere with.

We studied two disciplines: "International legal regulation of labor migration" and "The human right to work and its protection" under the guidance of Rustem Shamilevich Davletgildeev, Doctor of Law, Professor of Kazan Federal University (KFU).

Rustem Shamilevich has established himself not only as an excellent teacher, but also as an exceptionally competent and versatile erudite specialist in international law. He freely handled material both in the field of international migration and labor law, the history and theory of law, comparative law, and private international law.

It should be noted that the respected professor turned out to be a very modern person with an excellent knowledge of English and Latin: during both courses, Rustem Shamilevich repeatedly turned to English terms explaining the origin of a particular phenomenon in international law, and to Latin expressions connecting modern aspects of international law. law with similar institutions that existed even before our era.

It was interesting for us to listen to his lectures and work at seminars. He chose live formats for practical exercises, for example, discussions on such topical issues as protecting the labor rights of vulnerable groups of people (children, women, people with disabilities, indigenous peoples, migrants). It was extremely useful and exciting to analyze the case law, in particular the “case of the footballer Bosman”, who challenged the existing practice of hiring athletes in the European region and changed the approach to the legal regulation of the work of athletes at the international level.

Thanks to these classes, I acquired a good theoretical knowledge in the field of the formation of international law and, in particular, international labor and migration law, the main stages of their development. I consider it very useful to have practical experience in working with international standards, for example, ILO acts, and the experience of a comparative analysis of these standards with Russian labor law. In addition, it was just very interesting for me to study and this did not interfere with the distance learning format!

Kazan University is known for giving Russian jurisprudence a whole galaxy of pre-revolutionary lawyers, whose works have made an invaluable contribution to the development of Russian jurisprudence: G. F. Shershenevich, D. I. Meyer; in Soviet times, domestic science was enriched by the works of A.T. Bazhanova, V.V. Lazareva, F.R. Sundurov, and many other prominent jurists. At present, the traditions of such a prestigious educational institution are honorably continued by Professor R.Sh. Davletgildeev. His lectures became a bright chord that completed the theoretical part of our master's program!
