Master’s thesis defence by students of the Master’s Program “International Protection of Human Rights” of the UrSLU

On 22 July the master's theses defence took place on the electronic educational portal of UrSLU via “Zoom” platform by students of the master's program “International Protection of Human Rights”, implemented by the Ural State Law University as a member of a Consortium of Universities since 2015 under the auspices of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The thesis defence was also attended by Mr. Rashid Aluash, Coordinator of the Joint Program of the Russian Federation and UNHCR in addition to the members of the State Attestation Commission of the Institute of State and International Law No. 11.

The master’s students presented their diplomas on various aspects of international protection of human rights at the universal and regional levels. All the works presented have tackled burning issues and; contained proposals on the development of international legal regulation and the formation of progressive human rights practices both at the international and national levels along with a critical assessment of the activities of international mechanisms in the field of human rights protection and the efforts of states to protect human rights.

The Commission highly appreciated all the diplomas submitted for defence and especially noted the works of Nonna Konstantinovna Goreva “Countering international trafficking of women for the purpose of sexual exploitation”, Lyubov Yurievna Kostogryzova “Mechanism for the protection of religious freedom by international bodies”, and Andrey Alekseyevich Lunev “Human rights and the use of force in contemporary international law”.
